I’ve put in the training over the last 12 weeks, and now it’s the day before the Great North Run. The nerves are definitely starting to kick in!
I’ve done everything I can to prepare. Based on my training pace, my estimated finish time is somewhere between 2:48:00 and 2:57:00, though I’m quietly hoping I can get closer to 2:40:00. Whatever the result, it will be a new personal best for me. With 60,000 runners taking part, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to stick to my own pace or if the crowds will slow me down — but honestly, I’m not too worried about the clock. My main goal is to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the experience of my very first half marathon.
I’m proud to be running in support of the NHS, and I’ve already managed to raise £153 for them. If you’d like to support my run, you can do so here https://www.justgiving.com/page/dcgorun
What ever happens tomorrow I'm really happy how my training has been going and how far I've come since I started up again in June.
