Easing back into running

Easing back into running

David Carr

Training

Since my injury last November, I've only done a few runs here and there. As a result I've lost most of my progress in terms of stamina and running form ;(

To be expected when I haven't been doing any exercise in quite awhile apart from walking the dogs which doesn't count!

This week I've completed my 2nd run, did 3k on Monday and 5k today. Going very slow easing into the run, its a lovely sunny day so enjoying the run and being out. I'm no winter runner that's for sure! Give me a sunny day and I'll be out running!

My next event is the Hull 10k, I have plenty of time to train, it would be nice to aim for around 1:05:00 which is where I was last year after a few months of running.

Going to ensure I do leg exercises on my none run days to avoid further injury.

Purchased new road and trail trainers, I've learned they are really important.

Last year I did a trail run in road trainers and I'm convinced that's the start of my injury.

Going to do another Park run at weekend, my current time for a 5k from day was 38 mins! will reduce that in the coming weeks I'm sure.
